The Braves played a big ol’ dud of a game Friday night in New York, losing to the Mets 6-0. Tim Hudson went 6 1/3 innings giving up 11 hits(!), 4 earned runs, 3 BB, and 4 Ks. He’s now 13-8.
The Braves made Chris Capuano, with his losing record and 4.71 ERA, look like an all-star. He struck out 13 Braves and allowed only 2 hits (Dan Uggla and David Ross each had 1 hit). No Brave made it past second base. Less said about this stinker the better.
Upcoming schedule: The weekend games have been rescheduled to Sept. 8th due to expected weather. The Braves don’t play again until Tuesday night in Atlanta vs Washington at 7:05 on Peachtree TV.
Injury update: Tommy Hanson’s MRI showed a small undersurface rotator cuff tear that should not require surgery. He will consult with Dr. James Andrews on Monday to determine his course of action.
Standings: The Braves are 79-54 and remain 6 games behind the Phillies in the NL East. We are 9 games up on the Giants and 9 1/2 games up on the Cardinals for the wild card lead(as of now, the Giants game hasn’t ended yet).
AAA Gwinnett: The G-Braves played a stinker game tonight also, losing 4-1. Not much hitting and some shaky defense. Starter Randall Delgado pitched okay but made a crucial error. Peter Moylan didn’t pitch tonight. Corey Gearrin pitched and got in all kind of trouble, loading the bases with no out but was able to pitch himself out of it for the most part, only allowing 1 run. But, hey, the fireworks were awesome!
