Sunday’s Game: RH Derek Lowe vs LH Cole Hamels at 1:35 on FoxSportsouth or TBS. Derek will try to bring his record to .500 (he’s at 5-6 now).
Standings: Braves are 17 games over .500 at 54-37. Only the Phillies have more victories (in both leagues). The Phillies, Red Sox, and Yankees are the only teams with a better winning percentage than the Braves. Right now, we are 2 1/2 games behind the Phillies in the NL East. We are the Wild Card leader over Arizona by 5 games, over Milwaukee/St. Louis by 6 games, over Pittsburgh by 7 games, over New York by 7 1/2 games.
Injury Update: RH Kris Medlin suffered a second setback as he attempts to return from elbow reconstructive surgery. He has been temporarily shut down pending a visit with Dr. James Andrews. This is supposedly not abnormal for this type of injury. He had hoped to be returning later this month but I’m sure that date has now been pushed back. RH Peter Moylan (Moy! Moy!) is continuing on schedule as he rehabs from herniated disc surgery. He hopes to return mid-August.
Prado Update: Martin Prado went 1-5, scoring a run, walking once, and striking out twice last night with AAA Gwinnett. The Braves plan to put Prado at third base when he returns, leaving McClouth & Schafer in the outfield.
