Ross slams Braves to 5-4 win

David Ross hit a 4th inning grand slam to complete a 5 run inning for the Braves and then we held on to win 5-4. Tim Hudson pitched well except to Mark Reynolds. In the top of the 4th, Reynolds hit a 2 run homer off Hudson.  In the bottom of the inning, Chipper hit a 2 out double. Freeman was hit on the foot by a pitch. Uggla then hit a hard sinking liner to left that Luke Scott misplayed into a hit. It really should have been an error; I guess our scorer is trying to help Uggla out. Anyway, Chipper scored on the play. McClouth walked and Ross followed with a grand slam homer to make the score 5-2.

In the sixth, Reynolds hit another homer off of Hudson. In the 7th, Scott Linebrink came on in relief of Hudson and gave up a homerun to Nick Markakis (of Woodstock High School and Young Harris College fame). Kimbrel came on in the 9th to pick up his 24th save.

While pitching in the 1st, Hudson caught his spike on the mound and fell on his bottom. He immediately jumped back up and tipped his hat to the crowd while his entire team laughed at him. He finished with 6 IP, 3 runs, 8 hits, 3 walks, and 6 Ks bringing his record to 7-6 and his ERA to 3.57. Nate McClouth made another good play in left and Jordan Schafer made 2 great plays in center. Chipper had 2 hits, a walk, and scored a run.
